As a new patient you will fill out a patient history form that contains general questions about your health. A specific symptomatic and personal history will be done. Because Traditional Oriental medicine uses an intricate system of pulse and tongue diagnosis, palpation of energy points and meridians the acupuncturist will also feel the subtle variations in the pulses in the wrist. From these pulses a wealth of information about how the body is functioning is gained. Sound of voice, the condition and color of the tongue, smell, overall appearance of face and skin, emotions, and dreams are all important indicators of the overall condition.

During your treatment we will deal with the entirety of your condition at once because everything is connected. Where western medicine tries to look at a single cause(and give you a pill for it), acupuncture makes adjustments in the energy flow of our body to create the healthiest environment possible. Most people are surprised by the fact that the needle insertion is usually painless. Following insertion you may feel numbness or tingling around the point, or in various areas of the body, feel nothing at all. Needles are left in the body anywhere from a minute to 20 minutes at a time.
